This CPD activity consists of 5 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) designed to test your knowledge on food allergy and anaphylaxis in primary care—you will then be prompted to reflect on your learning.
The questions, written by Drs Joanne Walsh and Elizabeth Angier, relate to their expert article, Food allergy and anaphylaxis: training and investment are key, which covers the NICE quality standards on food allergy and anaphylaxis and the importance of education and communication for both patients and practitioners.
On completion of this activity, you should be able to:
- explain why an allergy-focused clinical history is key to clarifying the likelihood of an allergic reaction
- describe and recognise IgE-mediated and non-IgE-mediated allergy
- discuss what investigations are appropriate for people with suspected food allergy
- know when to refer a patient to an allergy clinic.
