GOLD 2019 guideline on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

ginp test and reflect thumbnail

This CPD activity consists of 4 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) designed to test your knowledge on the implementation of the 2019 GOLD strategy on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)—you will then be prompted to reflect on your learning.

The questions, written by Professor David Halpin, relate to his expert article, GOLD 2019 report: a step towards personalised medicine, which covers the updated recommendations in the 2019 GOLD Global strategy for diagnosis, management, and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease most applicable to primary care.

On completion of this activity, you should be able to:

  • recall what factors to consider when performing an initial assessment of an individual with COPD
  • know what pharmacotherapy is appropriate for the patient, and how to escalate and de-escalate treatment
  • differentiate between symptoms of asthma and symptoms of COPD.
