NICE has published Quality Standard (QS) 155 on Low back pain and sciatica in over 16s and updated QS5 on Chronic kidney disease in adults.

NICE QS155 on Low back pain and sciatica in over 16s covers the assessment and management of non-specific low back pain and sciatica in young people and adults aged 16 years and over, and is expected to contribute to improvements in the following outcomes:

  • functional improvement
  • avoidance of harm
  • return to work.

NICE QS5 on Chronic kidney disease in adults covers the assessment and management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in people aged 18 and over. It does not cover renal replacement therapy or acute kidney injury. This updated quality standard is expected to contribute to improvements in the following outcomes:

  • people with CKD feeling supported to manage their condition
  • health-related quality of life for people with CKD
  • progression to end-stage kidney disease
  • cardiovascular mortality for people with CKD
  • all-cause mortality for people with CKD.
